SUSTAINABILITY, PRODUCTION & OUR HISTORY

Sustainability and integrity have always been at the heart of our business. We work only with manufacturing partners who share our values and commitment to ethical practices. Our focus extends beyond design. We ensure safe workplaces, fair wages, reasonable working hours, and respect for diversity and human rights. We’re also dedicated to reducing our environmental impact through responsible material use, chemical restrictions, waste reduction, and energy efficiency. Each year we continue to learn, evolve, and refine our practices. Our clothing is — and always will be — made to empower both the wearer and the maker alike.

PRODUCTION IN INDIA

We have grown with our manufacturers in India since we began working with them in 2015. We visit each year and absolutely love our time in the factory.

PRODUCTION IN CHINA

Our connection in China came through a trusted friend who collaborates directly with the factory. She serves as our translator, cultural guide, and on-the-ground representative.

MADE IN AUSTRALIA

2004 - 2015

From 2004 Michelle began her creativity journey after leaving midwifery. In 2012 when we moved back home to Australia every single piece was hand made by Michelle in her home in Bangalow, Australia

MADE IN INDIA

2015 - 2022

Michelle made the transition to begin production with Prasad in India as the business grew. They have worked closely together for nearly a decade with Michelle visiting India several times a year and Prasad and his family visiting us here in Australia.

MADE IN INDIA & CHINA

2022 - present

As the business has continued to grow and flourish we have expanded to produce in China as well as India. Michelle continues to design and work closely with both of our manufacturers.

MADE IN INDIA, CHINA AND BEYOND

THE FUTURE

As we continue to grow we are expanding our production to include Italy, Portugal and Korea. Each manufacturer is chosen based on our sustainability promise and the strengths of each production house and region.

PACKAGING

The standard practice in the fashion industry is individually wrapped plastic garments. We have never done this and never will. Annually this saves over 30,000 plastic bags from entering the world.

WASTE REDUCTION

Any plastic is carefully reused or recycled rather than discarded, and all fabric remnants are recycled into paper or repurposed through our Buy, Swap, Sell page. This helps to extend the life of every material we use, diverting waste from landfill and closing the loop.

CARBON OFFSET

With 4.8 hectares of native trees absorbing around 45 tonnes of CO₂ each year, plus offset programs for travel and freight, and pesticide-free fabric production, we’re proud to operate as a carbon-neutral business.

HARMFUL CHEMICALS

Our garments are produced using only fibres grown without pesticides, and are coloured with natural dyes. This process eliminates harmful chemical runoff and stops contamination of surrounding soil and waterways.

We value transparency within the fashion industry. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to us.
