Production & Operations Assistant
Gemma
Gemma has been with us since 2021, and it is impossible to put into words just how much we have relied on her over the years. From production, pattern-making and sewing to picking and packing orders, managing the warehouse and tackling the many unexpected jobs that arise each day, Gemma keeps everything moving. Her knowledge of how we work is invaluable.
She is funny, cheerful, endlessly supportive, reliable and consistent. After working so closely together for so long, she has also become a friend. We feel incredibly lucky to have her in both our business and our lives.
Outside of work, Gemma loves her daughters, her two ragdolls and tap dancing. She also makes an exceptionally good pear cake.
ADMINISTRATION ASSISTANT
KERRI-ANN
Kerri-Ann is our Administration Assistant and has been part of Meg by Design since 2025. Kind, sweet and gently spoken, she is the warm voice behind our emails and on the other end of the phone. She genuinely cares about people and is dedicated to giving every customer the best possible experience.
Kerri-Ann handles much of the behind0-the-scenes work; from shipping, customs complications to website issues, technical difficulties and looking after some of our wholesale clients. She patiently works through every puzzle that comes her way. She has quickly become someone we rely on enormously.
Her love of natural clothing and slow fashion makes her feel very at home with us. Outside of work, Kerri-Ann loves spending time with her two daughters, decorating her home and collecting cookbooks. She also has a particular fondness for bowls—and firmly believes there is always room for one more.
HUMAN RESOURCES & SUPERMODEL
MARISA
After a lifetime working as a librarian, Marisa is now our unique combination of Human Resources and resident supermodel. We poached her from retirement, and she has since become a dear friend and an valuable source of support for the business.
Marisa brings a confident, thoughtful and beautifully thorough approach to everything she does. She keeps us organised, crosses the t’s, dots the i’s and shushes us when necessary. You can take the girl out of the library, but you can’t take the librarian out of the girl after all. She helps care for our team behind the scenes, then steps effortlessly in front of the camera and brings our clothing to life. It is not often that your HR support also happens to be a supermodel, but we are very fortunate that ours is.
Outside of work, Marisa loves books (obviously), crocheting and volunteering at art galleries and museums. She also has a deep appreciation for exceptionally high-quality tinned fish, which we suspect has something to do with being Italian.
BRANDING, CONTENT & SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
LEISA
Leisa looks after branding, content and social media and is the newest member of the Meg by Design team. She is also the reason this page exists—so if you have enjoyed meeting everyone properly, you can thank her.
In just her first few weeks, Leisa has already shown her incredible eye for detail, organisation and composition. She is easy to talk to, an excellent communicator and has slipped naturally into working with every part of our team. With a background in wedding photography and freelance marketing, she brings together creativity, storytelling and practical experience beautifully. We are incredibly grateful to have her on board and already wonder how we managed without her.
Outside of work, Leisa loves her daughter, her partner and her dog, along with anything and everything artistic. She is always looking at the world creatively, which is a perfect match for us.
Garment care & quality coordinator
KEL
Kel looks after quality control, general order of our warehouse. She carefully prepares and checks our clothing, finds faults, sorts returned garments and makes sure everything is where it needs to be. She is also the main reason our warehouse does not descend into complete chaos.
Bright, cheerful and wonderfully independent, Kel quietly gets on with whatever needs doing. She has an excellent eye for detail and takes enormous care with every garment that passes through her hands. Her consistency and practical approach keep an incredibly important part of Meg by Design running smoothly in ways that can be easily overlooked.
Outside of work, Kel loves her husband, her three sons and her cat. She is also passionate about kinesiology and Pilates, bringing the same energy and dedication to caring for herself and others that she brings to her work.
WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT
TAJ
Taj is our self-appointed Chief Executive Officer of Operations and Workflow—or, as the rest of us call it, Warehouse Assistant. Whatever the title, he is incredibly hardworking and competant. He gets on with whatever needs doing, keeps the warehouse moving and brings a great deal of laughter, chaos and shameless commentary to the working day.
Taj first came into our lives as a good friend of Michelle’s son, Gabriel, but over time he has become part of the family himself. He is hilarious, completely unapologetic and always willing to lend a hand. His ability to work hard while keeping everyone entertained makes him a very valued part of the team—even if his executive appointment remains under review.
Outside of work, Taj enjoys cooking, annoying Gabriel and snowboarding— definitely not skiing. He also has a concerning devotion to condiments, particularly chilli oil, and is a great enthusiast of extremely specific hypothetical questions that no one else would ever think to ask.
OPERATIONS ASSISTANT
GABRIEL
Gabriel is Michelle’s son and, like any child of a business owner, has never been confined to one particular job description. He simply does whatever needs to be done whenever and wherever it needs to be done—from packing orders and organising the warehouse to setting up photoshoot backdrops, filming behind-the-scenes content, doing the heavy lifting and helping wherever an extra pair of hands is required.
Having grown up around Meg by Design, Gabriel also offers his thoughts and valuable insights whenever we need them. He is kind, empathetic, sometimes shy but also funny. He brings a gentle energy to the team.
Outside of work, Gabriel loves art, fashion, raves, annoying Taj, mood lighting and acrobatics. He has never quite grown out of the “WATCH THIS!” phase, although his tricks are considerably more impressive these days.
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
MEG
Meg is the Creative Director of Meg by Design and, as the name suggests, has been part of its story from the very beginning. She has lived and breathed the business for more than a decade, working alongside her mum, Michelle, to shape how the brand looks, feels and communicates with the world.
Meg oversees the direction of collections, campaigns, photoshoots and storytelling. She styles shoots, writes emails and blogs, manages the website, works with wholesale customers and generally inserts herself into anything that could look, feel or work a little better. She also helps manage and support the team, ironing out the inevitable kinks and making sure everyone has what they need to keep things moving.
Outside of us, Meg loves her cats, travelling, reading, writing, art, bones, and pigeons. She rarely encounters a beautiful place, object or idea without wondering how it could inspire a story, photoshoot or room.
FOUNDER & DESIGNER
MICHELLE
Michelle is the founder, owner and designer of Meg by Design—and the beating heart behind everything we do. Since founding the business in 2004, she has never stopped being involved in absolutely every part of it. She designs the clothing, oversees production, manages budgets, and solves problems. If something needs doing, Michelle will almost certainly be doing it.
The business has grown enormously over the years, but Michelle has never stepped away from the everyday work that keeps it moving. There is no job too big, too small or too unglamorous for her to tackle. Her vision and instinct remain at the heart of Meg by Design, but so does her extraordinary willingness to roll up her sleeves and do anything and everything we need.
Outside of us, Michelle is still happiest when she is creating something. She loves renovating, designing, cooking Indian food and dreaming up new projects. Her latest great joy is mowing the lawn on her new ride-on mower.
