YOUR GUIDE TO OUR DESIGNS

A guide to understanding our shapes, finding your size, building layers and creating a Meg by Design wardrobe that feels entirely your own.

GARMENT CARE

01 — understanding the designs

CLOTHING MADE TO MOVE WITH YOU

Our clothing is intentionally generous, designed around movement rather than restriction. Natural fabrics, playing with proportions and layers allow every person to make the silhouette their own. Every single collection is designed to intertwine and work with previous collections.

— Relaxed, oversized shapes

— Natural fabrics with no stretch

— Pieces designed to layer over years

02 — begin with a slip

THE FOUNDATION OF OUR RANGE

Our Tutu and High Tea Slips have been signature Meg by Design styles for more than 15 years. They sit beneath almost anything in our range, adding length, texture, softness or volume.

Each slip is essentially a skirt with a lightweight cami built in. Because it hangs from the shoulders rather than fastening around the waist, the fabric can fall freely around the body without clinging, digging in or feeling tight. This allows for comfortable movement and better air circulation, even when several pieces are layered together.

The built-in cami also provides coverage beneath sheer shirts and dresses without the bulk or added warmth of another close-fitting layer. It is a simple design, but one that makes layering feel much lighter and easier.

03 — FINDING YOUR SIZE

FIT BEGINS WITH INFORMATION

Our charts show garment measurements, not body measurements. A tape measure and a favourite garment are the best places to begin.

measure your body

Pay particular attention to your bust, upper arm and hip measurements.

CHECK SIZE CHART

Compare your body measurements to the garment measurements in the size charts.

CHOOSE YOUR FIT

Consider how relaxed, flowing or oversized you would like the piece to feel.

04 — the art of layering

LET EACH LAYER HAVE A PURPOSE

Layering is not about adding bulk. It is about balancing lengths, textures, colours and transparency so each garment contributes something different. By layering you can create a completely customised and high end look.

— Vary where each garment ends

— Combine sheer and opaque fabrics

— Change one piece to transform the whole look

— Balance volume by showing forearms and ankles

05 — THE ART OF balance

Our Styling Principles

ROLL THE SLEEVES

Many of our designs have a full, oversized or relaxed silhouette. Rolling the sleeves to the elbow exposes the forearms, creates a break in the volume and draws the eye towards the waist, beautifully balancing the shape.

EMBRACE THE LAYERS

Play with different colours, textures and levels of sheerness. Each layer adds depth and interest, while changing just one piece can create an entirely different look.

MAKE IT YOURS

You wear the garment. The garment does not wear you. Add jewellery, scarves, combat boots or whatever feels like you. Life and getting dressed should be creative, individual and, most importantly, fun.

Before/after

The visual difference in a simple sleeve roll cannot be understated.

06 — BUILDING YOUR WARDROBE

DESIGNED TO INTERTWINE

Every Meg by Design collection is created to intertwine with the others. New pieces can be worn with styles from years ago, allowing your wardrobe to grow slowly without starting again each season.

Browse the collections, follow what catches your eye and make it your own.
