International Shipping Updates

As international customs regulations continue to change, we've updated the information below to help you understand how duties, taxes and shipping work for your country.

We know customs rules can be confusing, so we're committed to making the process as transparent as possible.

European Union (EU)

From 1 July 2026, the European Union has introduced new import regulations for parcels entering EU member countries.

What's changed?

  • The previous low-value import threshold has been removed. This means all orders entering the EU may now be subject to import duties and taxes, regardless of their value.
  • A new EUR €3 Customs Duty has also been introduced on eligible shipments.

How are orders shipped?

At present, all orders sent via Australia Post to the EU are being shipped on a Delivered at Place (DAP) basis.

This means:

  • Duties, taxes and customs fees (where applicable) are payable by the customer before delivery.
  • These charges are determined by your local customs authority and are not controlled by Meg by Design.

Australia Post is preparing to introduce Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) services across the EU, allowing duties and taxes to be paid at checkout. However, this service cannot be activated until all European postal operators have completed their implementation of the new regulations.

We will update this page as soon as DDP becomes available.

Temporary service interruptions

Due to regulatory changes, Australia Post has advised of the following temporary disruptions:

  • Denmark: Postal services are temporarily suspended from 1 July 2026.
  • Romania: Service availability is currently under review and temporary suspensions may occur until local authorities confirm compliance.

Returned or undeliverable orders

Please note that EU customs authorities do not currently refund duties, taxes or customs fees that have already been paid on parcels which are refused, undeliverable or returned to sender.

While we will always process any eligible refund for your returned Meg by Design items in accordance with our Returns Policy, customs charges paid to your local government may not be recoverable.

United Kingdom

From 1 July 2026, Australia Post will facilitate the advance payment of UK VAT on eligible shipments.

This helps reduce customs delays and creates a smoother delivery experience for UK customers.

Any applicable duties or taxes will be calculated according to UK customs regulations.

Canada

From 1 July 2026, Australia Post supports Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping into Canada for eligible services.

Where available, duties and taxes are paid before delivery, helping to minimise customs delays and unexpected charges upon arrival.

United States

Orders shipped to the United States are sent Delivered Duty Paid (DDP).

This means any applicable import duties, taxes and customs charges are calculated and collected during checkout. There should be no additional customs charges payable upon delivery.
