We recommend looking at the garment’s measurements in relation to your body, and also in comparison to a similar style of clothing you own to get the best idea of how it will fit. This is a great way to understand the shape and size of a style.
Once our pieces have been made, washed, dried and ironed, we lay the garment flat, and measure with a tape measure.
Length: Measured from shoulder seam to hem.
Bust: Measured from armpit to armpit.
Waist: Measured around the waistband of pants.
Hip: Measured across from the bottom pocket opening.
Arm: Measured at the arm hole opening.
HUMAN TOUCH
All of our pieces are woven, made, measured and dyed by hand. We do our best to maintain consistency with each and every piece, there may be slight variations due to the hand made nature of each piece.
SIZING
All of our clothes are made using 100% natural fabrics, so there is no stretch to our fabric. Our designs are made to be worn loose and comfortable, so if you find your measurements are just in between two sizes, we recommend sizing up to allow for the piece to flow as designed.
CARING FOR YOUR PIECE
Your MegbyDesign piece requires special care. We have a dedicated page on how best to care for your garment, so that it lasts for years to come.
CARE INSTRUCTIONSCotton Organdy
Cotton organdy is naturally stiff and crisp in texture, known for its rigid and structured quality. The stiffness of organdy may soften over time with repeated washing and wear. The texture can be restored with fabric starches safe for natural dyes and fabrics.
Silk Organza
Silk organza is a delicate fabric known for its fragile and sheer characteristics, making it susceptible to snags, pulls, and damage when exposed to rough handling. To ensure the longevity of silk organza garments, it is advisable to handle them with care and avoid things like heavy bags, sharp jewellery, or abrasive surfaces.
Gauze Linen
Gauze linen is by design a delicate fabric known for its fragile and open weave, making it susceptible to snags, pulls, and damage when exposed to rough handling. To ensure the longevity of gauze garments, it is advisable to handle them with care and avoid things like heavy bags, sharp jewellery, or abrasive surfaces. We recommend sizing up so that the garments have a loose fit.

Wool
Wool garments may be prone to pilling, which is the formation of small, loose fibres on the fabric's surface, particularly in areas that experience friction. To minimise pilling and maintain the appearance of wool garments, it is recommended to use a wool comb to remove the pilling gently.
Cotton Velvet
Cotton velvet or sometimes called Moleskin is a luxurious closely woven fabric with a short, thick and plush pile. Velvet is softest when woven from natural fibres, especially cotton and has a beautiful dense and buttery drape.
